Uncreated light

As I pondered upon what the apostle’ Peter said “We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty” (2 PETER 1:16, NIV), I noted how Peter sees the Second Coming before it happens. He interprets the Transfiguration of Jesus as a prophecy, a promise, and a preview of his glorious Return. And, Peter responds to arguments by scoffers and skeptics who question his teaching and deny the Second Coming of Christ (2 PETER 1:16, 3:4, NIV). Yet, Peter’s eschatology is not based on cleverly devised myths, but on what he himself has seen and heard, saying, “We were eyewitness of his majesty. We heard the voice from heaven. We have the prophetic word more fully confirmed” (2 PETER 1:16, 18-19, NIV).

Truly, I thank God that Christianity is not based on cleverly devised myths, but upon eyewitness accounts of historical events despite of people shunning religion away, painting the story of Jesus as myth. Hence, I reject these lies to say that the Gospels are fabricated, a type of legendary fiction. With this, I trust God and rely on His Word as I take courage and inspiration from these words of Truth.

For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the “One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ” (2 CORINTHIANS 4:6, NIV).

Today, I thank God for religious freedom in Singapore that Christians not only to profess and practice our faith, but also to propagate our faith, proclaiming Jesus, the Light of the world to others. And, I pray for Christians to use excellent resources over and over again for personal evangelism – to keep shining the Light of Christ into every dark and scary situation, for life-witness accounts will go viral, filling Singapore, Asia, and the whole earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea (HABAKKUK 2:14), as I did my today’s meditation.

Let’s cry out to God for a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit, for many to personally encounter Jesus, as the Light of the world.

Believe for a great homecoming!
