Shining Light through Little Samuels

As I meditated upon how the Scriptures said, “The boy Samuel ministered before the LORD under Eli. In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions” (1 Samuel 3:1, NIV) in my Advent’s meditation, I could sensed the darkest and the depressing spiritual periods of God’s people then depicting the physical barrenness and spiritual darkness in background of the climax, yet in the midst of darkness, “the Word of the Lord was rare” and this stood out greatly despite of how Eli’s sons had rebelled against God when they did evil things and abused their positions in office (1 Samuel 3:13, NIV), yet the Lord worked through a little boy called Samuel.

Today, I want to let God to work through my life as physical and spiritual darkness surrounds me all the time and how I can put my faith in God trusting Him to see me through difficult events and circumstances in my life presently. Truly, I praise God to know that He is the “Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness” by Leeland, Sinach, 2015 mentioned inside the Every Day with Jesus online devotional text.

Are you being the “little Samuels” that shines God’s providence and care to others through darkness as you face difficult moments in your life today?

As I did my today’s meditation, I pondered upon how the disciple Simon Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, do you wash my feet? .... You shall never...
