Continual Growth

On this new–year day, King David being psalmist reminds me how does a righteous person is likened to a cedar palm tree of Lebanon where he is a fruit–bearer that bears fruits for God as he rejoices in the promises of the LORD who prospers him even right up to old age where he is being blessed with strength, longevity and desirability of the LORD (Psalm 92:12, NIV). Indeed, I examined how Caleb grew in God’s faithfulness when he was thriving till the point when he received inheritance for the land division among the nine and a–half tribes during his old age (Joshua 14:6–14, NIV). I agree with Mick Brooks who pointed out inside the Every Day with Jesus devotional text that it’s quite sad to see a person thriving physically yet seeing the decline in his soul which makes one to draw back spiritually from God. And he stops growing already.

But, I believe how one has to make it a point to grow in the LORD to himself/herself flourishing in the blessings of the Lord’s righteousness where he depends on the ‘unfailing love’ that helps him to trust in His everlasting love (Psalm 52:8–9, NIV).

Let’s grow in the LORD as we trust in His everlasting love today!

Happy New Year 2024!
