As I did my weekend’s meditation, I pondered upon how Jesus said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you [all] that he might sift you [all] like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers;” (LUKE 22:31-32, NIV), I see how during the trial, Peter thinks that he is ready. He feels his own strength, yet in a little while, he will discover his utter weakness. However, before the cock crows, he will deny Christ three times (LUKE 22:33-34, NIV). And, Peter is reduced to ground zero & he will have to choose between faith and despair. Yet, Jesus believes in Peter, just as God believed in Job (JOB 1:8; 2:3, NIV). And, Jesus has no doubt that Peter will receive all the divine help that he needs to keep the faith and survive the ordeal.
The apostle Paul said, “Strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 CORINTHIANS 12:9, NIV). And, so much depends on you. But all depends on Christ. All other ground is sinking sand (EDWARD MOTE) as he mentioned this point inside the 40 Days (2019) devotional text. Today, I ask God for His discernment and foresight to be upon all spiritual leaders who are vulnerable as they see the traps that Satan is setting for them and how Jesus is interceding for them (ROMANS 8:34, HEBREWS 7:25, NIV).
With this, I thank God & praying for my cell leaders who are flocking my cell members & myself under their pastoral care that we won’t be entrapped by Satan’s traps in our lives. Are you interceding for the leaders in your team today? Indeed, we overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony (REVELATION 12:11, NIV). As leaders on the frontline are the most vulnerable, they often strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered (ZECHARIAH 13:7, NIV), I pray for Bishops, Senior Pastors, Pastors-in charge, Elders, Moderators, or whatever they are called, are the prime targets of the enemy, in the times when God allows Satan to give them a severe thrashing too.
And, I truly thank God for giving us shepherds after His own heart. As a believer (leader trainee), I’m sorry and repent for the times when I wear my leaders out with my incessant complaints. Father, I pray for my leaders as I intercede for them, strengthen them so that they in turn may strengthen others who are in the throes of battle and for us to stand in the gap with Christ to pray for the lost pre-believing souls to be found. Prompt us, burden us as we intercede for them too. As the apostle John says, “Whatever severe testing you allow to come their way, we pray that their faith will not fail” (1 JOHN 5:4-5, NIV).
In God’s sacred school of brokenness, the curriculum goes on all the time. Sometimes, God crushes his servants, cuts us down to size so that in a spirit of genuine weakness, brokenness, and humility, we are able to minister to others (CHARLES SWINDOLL, ADAPTED) as the author mentioned this point inside the 40 Days (2019) devotional text.
Let’s be prepared to be crushed and tested, as Satan will test our weakest point!
Are you ready for the sifting of Satan today?

Jesus, we acknowledge our vulnerability. Help us to keep our eyes on Jesus, being confident of this that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion (PHILIPPIANS 1:6).
