Praise Reports from the Nations 1

Let’s humble our hearts to pray for these countries in our prayers:

Middle East:
Ask the Lord to reveal the truth of His salvation to Muslims during the Hajj. Do pray for Muslims who are seeking to know God would encounter Christ. Do pray for Christians throughout the Middle East to join the global prayer movement for their neighbors’ salvation.

Laos’ – Flooding Dam:
A dam under construction in Attapeu Province (Southern Laos) collapsed two weeks ago. An estimated 13,000 villagers from many villages were affected by the flooding. It is a national disaster; there is chaos as the authorities have not faced such a situation before. Do pray for God’s comfort for those affected by the Laos’ flash floods. Do pray for relief and rescue work to be well and speedily organized, for good hygiene and health of those affected and for protection of the vulnerable elderly, women and children. Do pray for quick relief efforts, speedy resettlement and restoration. Do pray for believers to share with them the love of Christ in practical ways, and for many to turn to Jesus.

Europe:
Religious freedom in the former Communist world means the opportunity for Christians to practice their faith publicly and to enjoy fellowship and collaboration with their brethren from elsewhere in Europe and the world. It sees new expressions of Christian faith emerging in Central and Eastern Europe that engage the spiritual, social, relational and economic needs of many who feel lost in the vacuum of power and philosophy left by former Communist regimes.

Federal Republic of Nigeria
Missions’ vision was birthed in the 1970s through revival among university students. This vision has blossomed into a movement accounting for over 5,000 Nigerian missionaries at home and abroad, helping lead the way for Africa-wide mission mobilization.

Asia:
The emergence of a mature, international missionary involvement; the growth of commitment and involvement in cross-cultural outreach in India is praiseworthy. South Korea, the Philippines and the Chinese diaspora are major components of the world’s missionary outreach. The Back to Jerusalem vision in China and the vision to mobilize the Filipino emigrant workforce could be the two most significant dynamics for world mission in the 21st Century. Yet humility, cultural sensitivity and genuine willingness to work together across denominations, nationalities and ethnicities are all needed for Asian mission work as much as for anywhere else.

World:
The modern Bible Society movement dates to the foundation of the British and Foreign Bible Society in 1804, when a group of Christians sought to address the lack of affordable Bibles in Welsh for Welsh-speaking Christians. The American Bible Society (ABS) was founded in 1816. Today there are many agencies committed to various aspects of making the Scriptures available to all. Most of these are members of the Forum of Bible Agencies, formed in 1992 to increase cooperation and communication between the many Bible translation and distribution agencies in the world.

Shift from distribution to translation – The Protestant mission movement up to 1910 emphasized Bible distribution more than Bible translation. However, in the decade following 1910, Scripture translation in some part was done in 102 additional languages with a cumulative total of 722 languages having some Bible translation by 1920. In the 1950s, 142 translations were added; in the 1960s, 258 languages; in the 1970s, 290 languages; and in the 1980s, 175 additional languages. It was estimated that by 2010 there were over 2,500 translations of at least portions of the Bible. Still, the need is great. Of the world’s languages (possibly around 7,000), over 2,000 languages wait with a need of Scripture translation work, representing over 200 million people throughout the world. Do pray for workers dedicated to providing Scripture to those currently without access.

Spirit of Prayer

Dear Blogger Friends,

Here is your inspirational message below!

Spirit of Prayer:
In my devotional reading, I had read the devotion on how Saul started to join others in prophesy’ after the Spirit came in power upon him (1 Samuel 10:9-11). I found out on how this change often gives confidence and power to lead the people of God. I saw how the Holy Spirit originally came in him the presence and the power of God (1 Samuel 10:10). And, when the Holy Spirit came upon Saul again, possibly to testify about David’s role as God’s chosen king (1 Samuel 19:23); Indeed, the prayers are often being referred as ‘spirit of prayer’ or ‘spirit of intercession.’

I believe that I should pray through the Holy Spirit that builds my faith (Jude v 20). I do understand upon how I need the spirit of grace and supplication whom the Lord pours out on the house of David and all inhabitants (Zechariah 12:10). It is understandable on how should you & I let God pours out the Spirit upon our lives as we witness Christ in whom men once rejected’ as He was being pierced and nailed onto the cross as a suffering Messiah.

This prompts me to share the gospel with those pre-believers who once rejected the gospel and on how I have to build a good rapport with them before sharing the gospel with them.

Are you witnessing Christ to those who have rejected the gospel?

Team Singapore / An Excitement That Goes Anywhere

Dear Blogger Friends,

Here are your inspirational messages below!

Team Singapore:
As I celebrated Singapore’s National Day yesterday, I am being reminded by what Moses said, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26) as I did my yesterday's meditation encouraging me thanks to God for our Pioneer Team - Singapore’s founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew & his cabinet ministers, then to Mr Goh Chok Tong and his team who built the foundations of this nation since Independence in 1965. And, on how this nation-building has been continued by Mr Lee Hsien Loong and his team which had seen the tremendous results on their part, since the transition handover took place in 2004. And, this has sparked a public interest and expectation surrounding the identity of the next Prime Minister.
Today, I pray for Mr Chan Chun Sing, Mr Heng Swee Keat and Mr Ong Ye Kung who remain very much in the running to succeed Mr Lee Hsien Loong as the 4th Prime Minister to lead the rest of the 4G leadership as mentioned inside the 40 Days Devotional Text today. I pray for the next 4th Prime Minister to have the ability to work with and gain the respect of his peers, and for them to gel together as team. As PAP cadre Eric Low added, “A strong leader is always necessary to steer the team … in the right direction and implement well-suited policies. A leader who is able to win the respect of his team mates would naturally be treated as a first among equals by his teammates. The 4G collective leadership will play an important role in the era to come” as being highlighted  inside the 40 Days Devotional Text too.

Let’s pray for “a capable team who can work closely together, who can inspire the people’s confidence and bring the nation forward, carve out a new path and make Singaporeans proud” (Kelly Ng, Channel NewsAsia, 1st May, 2018).
Solomon says, “For the Lord gives wisdom … He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity” (Proverbs 2:6-7).

An Excitement That Goes Anywhere:
As I was reading on how could our enthusiasm and joy last for generations when we speak of the mighty works and acts of God and to proclaim the glorious splendors of the Lord through the wondrous works of His deliverance (Psalm 145:4-5). I likened the way as Charles Foster Kent said it how this pent of feeling broke forth as irresistible wave of spiritual enthusiasm on the day of Pentecost that marked the beginning of the worldwide missionary movement as he has mentioned inside the Every Day with Jesus devotional text today.

I agree that enthusiasm should be worked by the infusion of the Holy Spirit than by circumstances. In fact, the impact of Jesus’ birth is best described as the one that brings the Glory to God in the Highest through His life and ministry that God would be well pleased with men of those who repent of their sins and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (Luke 2:14).

I also agree with the late Rev Dr. Selwyn Hughes who suggested that the energy, authority and excitement would create influences and affects in the coming generations as much as in the present times as God moves in revival.

I pray that revival will indeed move the nation of Singapore and nations across Southeast Asia and Asia!

Let’s pray for revival to move in Singapore and beyond Asia!

Foot-wash

As I did my today’s meditation, I pondered upon how the disciple Simon Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, do you wash my feet? .... You shall never...
