Dear Blogger Friends,

Team Singapore:
As I celebrated Singapore’s National Day yesterday, I am
being reminded by what Moses said, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord
make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His
countenance upon you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26) as I did my yesterday's
meditation encouraging me thanks to God for our Pioneer Team - Singapore’s
founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew & his cabinet ministers, then to Mr
Goh Chok Tong and his team who built the foundations of this nation since
Independence in 1965. And, on how this nation-building has been continued by Mr
Lee Hsien Loong and his team which had seen the tremendous results on their
part, since the transition handover took place in 2004. And, this has sparked a
public interest and expectation surrounding the identity of the next Prime
Minister.
Today, I pray for Mr Chan Chun Sing, Mr Heng Swee Keat and
Mr Ong Ye Kung who remain very much in the running to succeed Mr Lee Hsien
Loong as the 4th Prime Minister to lead the rest of the 4G leadership as
mentioned inside the 40 Days Devotional Text today. I pray for the next 4th
Prime Minister to have the ability to work with and gain the respect of his
peers, and for them to gel together as team. As PAP cadre Eric Low added, “A strong
leader is always necessary to steer the team … in the right direction and
implement well-suited policies. A leader who is able to win the respect of his
team mates would naturally be treated as a first among equals by his teammates.
The 4G collective leadership will play an important role in the era to come” as
being highlighted inside the 40 Days
Devotional Text too.
Let’s pray for “a capable team who can work closely
together, who can inspire the people’s confidence and bring the nation forward,
carve out a new path and make Singaporeans proud” (Kelly Ng, Channel NewsAsia,
1st May, 2018).
Solomon says, “For the Lord gives wisdom … He stores up
sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity”
(Proverbs 2:6-7).(Written by Jeremy Koh, 9th Aug 2018)
An Excitement That Goes Anywhere:
As I
was reading on how could our enthusiasm and joy last for generations when we
speak of the mighty works and acts of God and to proclaim the glorious
splendors of the Lord through the wondrous works of His deliverance (Psalm
145:4-5). I likened the way as Charles Foster Kent said it how this pent of
feeling broke forth as irresistible wave of spiritual enthusiasm on the day of
Pentecost that marked the beginning of the worldwide missionary movement as he
has mentioned inside the Every Day with Jesus devotional text today.
I
agree that enthusiasm should be worked by the infusion of the Holy Spirit than
by circumstances. In fact, the impact of Jesus’ birth is best described as the
one that brings the Glory to God in the Highest through His life and ministry
that God would be well pleased with men of those who repent of their sins and
receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (Luke 2:14).
I
also agree with the late Rev Dr. Selwyn Hughes who suggested that the energy,
authority and excitement would create influences and affects in the coming
generations as much as in the present times as God moves in revival.
I pray
that revival will indeed move the nation of Singapore and nations across
Southeast Asia and Asia!
Let’s
pray for revival to move in Singapore and beyond Asia!
