Crucify Him!

Notice:
On 17th April, your Easter Sunday's article will be posted up from 3.00pm onwards.

As I meditated upon what the Scriptures said, “Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). There they crucified him, and with him two others – one on each side and Jesus in the middle” (John 19:17–18, NIV), I observed how Christ went out to be crucified and He carried his cross Himself after the Jews met up with Simon the Cyrenian who obliged Christ to bear the cross upon Himself. By this, Jesus knew that He was no transgressor of the law of God Himself except He allowed Himself to be treated by the Romans soldiers as if He had been done by the justice of God and that He died in the place of all peoples. Indeed, Jesus said that His kingdom not of this world (John 18:36, NIV) – leaving no firebrand speeches on record criticizing His accusers and how He had forgiven all the perpetrators of His death on the cross (Luke 23:34, NIV), knowing that He had to bear the guilt of shame for our sins when He became the curse through His death on the cross (Deuteronomy. 21:22–23, NIV) after He lost His identity as a Messiah then.

Today, I thank God that the death of Jesus have brought me out of redemption when He cleansed my sins away through His blood on the cross and His righteousness has filled me up – replacing all the rubbish dirt in my life, and how I can search for His truth in God’s Word that sets me free from my sin (John 8:31, NIV). Truly, I give thanks to the LORD that God’s Word has been freely made to everyone in the midst of having it to be abandoned amongst our life’s garbage (Luke 15:17, NIV).

In fact, amongst the garbage, Jesus came to Mary – His own mother saying that she was to take John (the disciple whom He loved) to be her own son and for John to provide her (Mary) knowing that she was a widow now (John 19:27, NIV) after Joseph had died.

Hence, we can find God’s Word as a source of truth in the midst of our garbage life while I pondered upon my Good Friday’s reading.

What does God’s Word say to you in the midst of your garbage life today?

Foot-wash

As I did my today’s meditation, I pondered upon how the disciple Simon Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, do you wash my feet? .... You shall never...
