As I pondered upon my Easter Sunday’s
reading, I could imagined how “‘Jesus said to her, “Mary’” (John 20:16,
NIV) seeing that now Mary was all alone after the disciple had gone home
after checking the scene out to find Jesus body was not there (John
20:10, NIV), and that two angels asked her why she’s crying – perhaps
she would have been in a state of confusion while having a
conversation with the two angelic beings. Yet, suddenly when the
gardener (Jesus), asking the same question to her – why was she crying?
However, Mary doesn’t recognise Jesus till He speaks her name out in the Garden of Gethsemane (John 20:14, NIV) and there,
she felt overjoyed hearing His voice.
Today, my heart feels
glad when Jesus calls out my name “Jeremy” knowing that He has risen
from the grave (Luke 23:34b, NIV), and how I can praise Jesus for
knowing my fears, my sadness, my triumphs and my woes as I encounter
them in life presently. Indeed, it would be wonderful to hear our names
spoken in love, as we turn and recognise Jesus who has loved us since
before we were born.
How do you feel when Jesus calls you and that He speaks out your name today?
